Synopsis: |
This report looks at the role of the EU within the World Trade Organization and how it can contribute to the re-launch of the Doha Development Agenda. In particular the EU should: commit to the removal of all agricultural subsidies by a specified date; achieve acceptable solutions to agricultural market access; press for the liberalisation of trade in services; push for transparency in government procurement; pursue agreement on investment and competition outside of the Doha Development Agenda. In addition the report analyses the relative benefits of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, the formulation of EU trade policy and possible reform of the WTO. |
