Description: |
Collection of three horror film remakes. 'Halloween' (2007) is Rob Zombie's brutal homage to John Carpenter's slasher classic. After committing a series of gruesome murders in his home town of Haddenfield, ten-year-old Michael Myers (Daeg Farch) is sent to the Smith's Grove Sanitarium where he is treated by child behaviourist Dr. Samuel Loomis (Malcolm McDowell), the only person who truly understands Michael's evil nature. 17 years later, Michael (now played by Tyler Mane) escapes from the asylum on Halloween night and returns to Haddonfield where he goes on another killing spree, as he attempts to resolve events in his troubled past. 'Pulse' (2006) is a remake of the Japanese IT-horror film involving connecting to the 'othernet' instead of the Internet - a world inhabited by malevolent spirits intent on harm. The spirits travel through webcams and phones, intent on taking life from the living, and there's no way to stop them. Finally, 'The Ring' (2002) is a re-make of the highly successful Japanese horror film adapted from the novel by Koji Suzuki. After watching a mysterious videotape the viewer receives a telephone call telling them they only have seven days left to live. When a group of teenagers, who watched the tape and scoffed at the warning, die after seven days, journalist Rachel Kelly (Naomi Watts) decides to uncover this deadly mystery. She watches the tape, receives the call and enlists the help of her former partner, and technical whizz-kid, Noah (Martin Henderson), who is convinced that the story is a hoax. That is until he investigates further... |
