| Description: |
A road-movie with a social conscience about a Vietnam veteran's attempts to kick-start his life again. Four years after returning from Vietnam with recurring mental problems, Jack Dunne (Henry Winkler) manages to free himself from the institution where he's being treated, and sets off aboard a bus bound for California. Hooking up with fellow passenger Carol (Sally Field), he tells her of his plans to set up a worm farm operation to supply local fishermen with bait, using money that his fellow inmates at the institution have supplied. Initially irritated by his awkward behaviour, Carol gradually warms to her new travelling companion, finally becoming his only support when his dreams are threatened. |
