| Description: |
Drama about a good-natured mechanic whose life is destroyed in less than a week. Danny (Mickey Rooney) finds himself short of cash when he's supposed to take out waitress Vera (Jeanne Cagney) on a date. He borrows 20 dollars from the cash register, planning on paying it back with 20 dollars that a buddy owes him the next day, but the friend doesn't turn up. In order to get the 20 dollars, he buys a 100-dollar watch on a payment plan and then sells it for the 20 dollars. Unfortunately, a detective discovers what Danny has done and orders him to pay the full 100 dollars immediately. Thereafter, every means he tries to get out of trouble only gets him deeper into crime, while everyone he meets is out for what they can get. |
