The first six films in the 'Saw' horror franchise. In the original film, 'Saw' (2004), two men - Adam (Leigh Whannell) and Dr Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) - wake up to find themselves chained to pipes in a room they have never seen before. Between them lies the dead body of a man with apparently self-inflicted gunshot wounds. As they begin to piece together the circumstances that led to their predicament, the pair realise they are the latest victims of a serial killer known as the Jigsaw, who orchestrates situations in which his captors will be driven to kill each other. They also learn that the killer has taken Gordon's family hostage. How can the men possibly outwit this sadistic psychopath in time to save themselves and the hostages? Donnie Wahlberg and Shawnee Smith star in 'Saw II' (2005). While investigating the bloody aftermath of a grizzly murder, Detective Eric Mason (Wahlberg) has the feeling that it is the work of Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), the notorious killer who disappeared leaving a trail of bodies - and parts - behind. And Mason is right. Jigsaw is at work again. But instead of two people locked in a room with only one unthinkable way out, there are eight. Eight strangers, unaware of their connection to each other, forced to play out a game that challenges their wits and puts their lives in jeopardy. Jigsaw returns in the gore-soaked sequel 'Saw III' (2006). After eluding the cops, psychopathic killer Jigsaw (Bell) turns an abandoned warehouse on the edge of town into a gruesome torture chamber. Jigsaw's new protegee Amanda (Shawnee Smith) kidnaps a doctor who is forced to keep the evil master alive. Barely clinging to life, Jigsaw begins to carry out his gruesome plans for the doctor and another helpless victim. In 'Saw IV' (2007), upon the news of Detective Kerry's murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson) and Agent Perez (Athene Karkanis) arrive at the depleted police precinct and help veteran Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) sift through Jigsaw's latest grisly game of victims and piece together the puzzle. But the SWAT Commander Rigg (Lyriq Bent), the only local officer who has yet to experience Jigsaw's handiwork, is suddenly abducted. Thrust into the madman's harrowing game, he has just 90 minutes to overcome a diabolical series of interconnected traps - or face the deadly consequences. In 'Saw V' (2008), despite the grisly death of Jigsaw in the last film, his legacy continues as the string of gruesome murders shows no sign of abating. When Detective Hoffman (Mandylor) and Agent Strahm (Patterson) are assigned to investigate the case, Strahm follows up on his hunch that his colleague is somehow involved in the new rash of killings. It isn't long before a new group of strangers wakes up in Jigsaw's lair to face a series of brutal tests. Can Strahm uncover Hoffman's dark and deadly secret in time to save their lives, not to mention his own? In 'Saw VI' (2009), Special Agent Strahm is dead and Detective Hoffman (Mandylor) has been exposed as Jigsaw's undisputed replacement. As the FBI start narrowing their search for Hoffman, he is driven to protect Jigsaw's legacy and initiates a new game plan in order to ensure Jigsaw's eminent design is recognised once and for all. |
