The complete first and second series of the classic space adventure serial, starring Buster Crabbe as the swashbuckling hero Flash Gordon. In series one, 'Space Soldiers' (1936), the evil Ming the Merciless (Charles Middleton) directs the planet Mongo to hurtle through space and threaten Earth with destruction. Through many a cliffhanger, and with his girlfriend Dale Arden (Jean Rogers) and scientist Dr Zarkov (Frank Shannon) at his side, can Flash stop Ming and save the Earth? In the second series, 'Conquers the Universe' (1940), Flash Gordon, Dale Arden and Dr Zarkov travel to the planet Mongo in the hope of dissuading Ming the Merciless from experimenting any further with his deadly purple dust. Ming refuses to cooperate, and in the ensuing conflict Flash becomes separated from Dale and Zarkov, both of whom are captured and held prisoner on Mongo. |
