| Description: |
Triple bill of romantic comedies. In 'Made of Honour' (2008), when serial womaniser Tom (Patrick Dempsey)'s long-time best friend Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) becomes engaged to Colin (Kevin McKidd), Tom comes to the realisation that Hannah is in fact the woman he wants to be with. Tom agrees to become Hannah's maid of honour, seeing it as an opportunity to get closer to the bride-to-be and woo her before it's too late. As Hannah begins to realise that Tom may be marriage material after all, she will have to decide between marrying her best friend or the man who asked her first. In 'Maid in Manhattan' (2002), Jennifer Lopez stars as Marisa Ventura, a single mother who works as a maid in one of New York's top hotels, but has aspirations to do better. Holding her back is her mother (Priscilla Lopez), who thinks she should accept who and what she is and leave it at that. However, after a case of mistaken identity Marisa finds herself being pursued by Chris Matthew (Ralph Fiennes) who is staying at the hotel and is running for the Senate, as a Republican. Egged on by her friends at the hotel (Bob Hoskins amongst them) and her son, Marisa decides to accept a date with the dashing bachelor but finds their paths are definitely not the same and she returns to her New York suburb, having lost her man and job. Will love conquer the social divide? Finally, in 'Only You' (1994), Marisa Tomei stars as Faith, a woman obsessed, thanks to a fortune teller's prediction, with marrying a man by the name of Damon Bradley. Following a slim lead, she flies off to Italy on the trail of her destiny. Once there she meets a charming stranger (Robert Downey Jr) who pretends to be the man of her dreams, and they soon fall in love. But when she discovers his deception, he has to work overtime to convince her to follow her heart and not her head. |
