Description: |
Bollywood drama. Shyam (Rajesh Khanna) is an ambitious Indian man who goes to Mauritius to fulfill his dreams, and where he meets Rukmani (Tina Munim). They get married, despite strong opposition from Rukmani's step-mother, Renu (Shashikala), and her brother, Sampatlal (Prem Chopra). Rukmani, although educated and of modern outlook, is prejudiced against untouchable Gopal (Shreeram Lagoo) and his daughter, Radha (Padmini Kolhapure), who are very friendly with Shyam. Shyam is desperate to be a father, but Rukmani undergoes an operation to stop any pregnancy. When complications set in, Rukmani discovers that she is unable to have any children, and this only widens the gap between Shyam and Rukmani. When an embittered Rukmani finds out that Shyam is having an affair with Radha, she swears to avenge this humiliation, even if it means sending Shyam to prison. |
