Description: |
Family drama starring Geraldine Page in an Oscar-winning role as Carrie Watts, an elderly woman living with her domineering daughter-in-law (Carlin Glynn) and hen-pecked son (John Heard) in Houston, Texas in the 1940s. Her dearest wish is to return to the small town of Bountiful where she grew up, but her son is worried about her health and her daughter-in-law concerned about the cost. However, Carrie finally manages to make her escape, and boards a bus for Bountiful, where she meets a young woman (Rebecca de Mornay) who accompanies her on her voyage of self-discovery. |
