A body of thirty five recorded conversations made between 1988 and 1996. Conversations explore artists' practices and development, and provide useful insights of to progressive work of the time. In considering their work, often in the context of a current exhibition, leading artists from Arman and Anthony Caro to Eduardo Paolozzi and James Turrell discuss their ideas in formation and factors which have informed their development. Read together, another picture emerges of unexpected links between the makers, in the expression of their concerns, in the work and with the world beyond, that forms a coherent picture of the art of the time. British and European artists include Michael Porter, Alison Wilding, Phillip King, John Latham, Helen Chadwick, Gerard Titus-Carmel and Maurizio Nannucci. |
