Synopsis: |
There is clearly a need for a report that describes the nature of the entire framework for coastal management in the UK. This report attempts to fill that need. Its purpose is to provide an informed, readable and relatively non-technical appreciation of coastal management. It presents a synthesis of the enormous volume of legislation, policy advice and research relevant to the management of the coastal zone. Subjects covered included coastal defence, pollution, conservation, development control, regulation of activity on the sea bed and in the sea, and issues in coastal planning and management. |
